The ressource provides summaries of the European Union's legislation onthe Customs union - customs matters such as the harmonization and simplification of customs controls between member countries (Community Customs Code, use of ATA and TIR carnets, common transit - including between EU and EFTA countries, abolition of controls at intra-community borders, a Combined nomenclature and common customs tarff, customs reliev, exemption of travellers), as well as the establishment of data communication networks between administrations (including a Customs Information system and an environment for paperless trade in the EU), and the provisions for free movement of goods within the Community.
