Dear colleagues,
I am pleased to inform you that the next meeting of the Global Facilitation Partnership for Transportation and Trade (GFP) will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from 9-10 of June, 2008.
The meeting will take place immediately prior to the
OECD Regional Forum on Trade Facilitation (11-12 June) and just before the meeting of the Bocksburg Group (13 June, to be confirmed). As such, we hope that this meeting will attract a larger number of participants from both the public and the private sector.
We will devote some time to the important issue of improving transit operations. The Bank will also present some initial findings of a major global transit project it has recently commissioned. These should act as catalysts for further discussion. We hope that GFP members will see this meeting as a chance to support the first GFP to be conducted in the developing world by attending in person and taking this opportunity to further discuss ways in which we can increase the participation of developing countries in future GFP activities.
