Goals

The LPI will provide policy makers, firms, researchers and other stakeholders with valuable information in terms of trade and transport facilitation. This initiative does not seek to obtain any confidential company specific or proprietary information, nor require managerial scrutiny or oversight. The Survey uses an anonymous, web-based questionnaire which asks the respondent to evaluate their country of residence, as well as eight countries they are dealing with on several logistics dimensions. The countries are generated automatically according to the trade patterns of the country where the respondent is working.

Scope and activities

1. Partner Firms

Through direct participation of the GFP partners, FIATA (International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations), GEA (Global Express Association), and the Turku School of Economics, Finland (TSE), the World Bank has entered into a partnership with a number of major international logistics firms who have accepted the invitation to participate in the survey.  If your company is a partner to the LPI 2006 survey, your company’s focal point will have determined who should complete the online survey on behalf of the company.

2. Respondents to the survey

We also welcome individual responses from independent logistics professionals who deal with international trade. The survey allows you to express your views on several logistics dimensions: transport cost, infrastructure, customs and border formalities, amongst others. If you are a GFP newsletter subscriber, you will receive a notification when the Survey Results will be posted. We expect preliminary results to be available in September 2006.

The survey will be completed online. Filling out the survey should take about 20 minutes. All responses will be kept confidential and anonymous. To provide your answers, you can access the online questionnaire Here.
